Zigg Capital Founding Partner Dave Eisenberg on Real Estate Tech Investing

Episode Six of the Thesis Driven Leader Series

This week’s episode of the Leader Series features Dave Eisenberg, Founding Partner at Zigg Capital. Dave has backed some of the biggest names in real estate tech over the past decade including VTS, Cherre, Procore, Kasa, and Juniper Square. But he’s not just doing venture deals—through Zigg’s partnership with Watchung Capital, Eisenberg also makes investments in real estate assets, giving him a unique window into the rise of OpCo-PropCo structures.

In this episode, we also explore how venture investors like Dave source deals and what he’s looking for in future portfolio companies. Dave details how he and his colleagues evaluate deals—and the founders behind them—and why he values humility over bravado. He also provides some helpful hints to founders about what they should be looking for and expect in future investors.

Of course, the proptech ecosystem has changed dramatically since Dave’s time as an entrepreneur—he founded Floored in 2012 and ran it until selling to CBRE in 2017. We dive into the sector’s evolution and where it might go from here as well as gaps in the real estate tech markets and areas that are ripe for innovation.
